Organization’s mission / school specificity:

State Engineering University of Armenia, the second largest and the only technological university in Armenia.
One of the main research areas of Department of Environmental Engineering (under supervision of the head of the Department) is Wastewater treatment possibilities, particularly through the use of Zeolites.
The faculty and Students of the Department have established "Center of Water Sustainability", which actively promoting public level activities in the field of Waste water treatment and preservation of Water resources in Armenia.

Partner organizations and participation in networks:

Department of Environmental Engineering of SEUA is a member of ISTC funded network of CIS Universities cooperation in the field of the use of Zeolites in wastewater treatment. The Department recently entered in the network under EU funded INTAS program with Moscow State University, University of Milan and Tashkent State Technological University for joint-research in the same field.
Activities of "Center of Water Sustainability" is mainly directed in promotion of youth involvement in Sustainable water policy development in Armenia.

Summary of water and sanitation major activities or campaigns of the organization since 2000:

1. Department of Environmental Engineering of SEUA under the funding of various domestic and international agencies (ISTC, EU Intas program) is developing unique technology wastewater treatment through the use of Zeolites.
2. Young members of "Center of Water Sustainability" initiated series of publications in leading local magazines and newspapers ("Ecological Journal of Armenia", "Aravot" daily, "Republic of Armenia" daily, etc.) aiming to rise the level of awareness of our society concerning the water pollution and water use issues.
3. Voluntary week "Cleaning Razdan, clean Yerevan" was organised by "Center of Water Sustainability" in 2001. During the week volunteers have cleaned the basin of the biggest river crossing the capital of Armenia - Razdan.
4. The Center has organised series of seminars and conferences with participation of young NGO leaders and researcher and mature scientists, concerning the Sustainable water politics development in Armenia. The question concerning ecological problems of Lake Sevan, River Debet (Kura), as well efficient water usage problems both in industry (the questions of operation of hydro-electric stations) and public field.
5. Since 1999 the Department is continuously implementing researches in the field of current environmental situation of Lake Sevan, the largest fresh water reservoir in Middle East. The results are presented in various first class international conferences such as first and second Pan-European Conference "Euro-Environment", World Bank Annual Development Conferences, etc.

Please, describe briefly how you are going to participate in the project activities (see attached Second announcement) and which of your implemented projects you are going to present during the Parliament itself:

We hope actively participate in "learning by sharing" of the parliament presenting our experience in organizing PR campaign aiming to rise the level of awareness of the society, particularly young people, concerning the water pollution and water use issues. Also we would be glad to present the experience of our Center and Department of organisation and implementation of volunteer activities and academic meeting of young specialists. We also wish to have efficient contribution in creation of informative web-site of the results of the meeting.

Please, describe briefly how you are going to disseminate the results of the Parliament:

Department of Environmental Engineering of SEUA is the leading environmental research Center in Armenia and the only higher educational Institution in Armenia preparing technological specialists in the field ecological protection. In this regards the participation of our Department young students and mature representative in the Parliament will allowed them spread the experience and information that they would gain during the parliament among the biggest possible audience in Armenia. Also our delegation will consist of two members of "Center of Water Sustainability", which are the students of other largest Armenian Universities (Yerevan State University and French University of Armenia). This will allowed to share the experience of Youth Water Parliament among larger number of young people.
